Avoid being a bloody idiot
The Transport Accident Commission has been a proud support of the Wangaratta Jazz Festival since 2003, helping jazz goers get home safely.
The TAC Blues Marquee is one of the most happening venues at the Festival.
As part of the partnership, free breath testing is provided at the TAC Blues Marquee, the Performing Arts Centre and the Pinsent Hotel, to keep everyone safe during the Festival.
The TAC encourages everyone to use the breathalysers but more importantly, to plan ahead to avoid being a bloody idiot.
Some handy tips for Jazz fans:
- plan ahead and organise how you will get home
- use taxis, shuttle buses, walk or nominate a non-drinking designated driver
- if you’re drinking, make sure you eat regularly
- alternate your alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic drinks
- use the breathalysers at the venues but remember that your blood alcohol level can continue to rise after you have stopped drinking. Don’t drive if you are unsure about your BAC.
- track your consumption based on a standard drink (about 100ml of wine) and don’t drive if unsure you are under the limit
If you are near or over the limit, don’t drive. It’s not worth the risk of losing your licence, your life or the life of someone you care about.
